What to write about, and where it goes

A correction

If something on the Site is wrong, we want to fix it. Tell us the page and what is wrong with it, and we will check it against the source. How we handle corrections, and what we do when one is made, is set out in our corrections policy.

This is the message we most want to receive. Nothing here is tested by hand — specifications are as the manufacturer states them — so a reader who knows a product better than the spec sheet does is the fastest way a mistake gets found.

Editorial

Pitches, questions about how a piece was put together, or anything covered by our editorial policy. Contributors are listed on the masthead.

Advertising and affiliate enquiries

How the Site is funded, and what that does and does not buy, is in the affiliate and advertising disclosure. Read it before writing: it answers most of what people ask, including the part about advertisers not seeing articles before publication.

Privacy and data

Requests about your personal data — access, correction, erasure — go to the same address. Your rights and how we handle them are in the privacy policy.

Publisher

What we cannot help with

We are a publication, not a shop and not a manufacturer. We cannot help with an order, a warranty claim, a repair or a return — those belong with the retailer you bought from or the maker of the instrument. We do not test gear and hold no stock, so we cannot arrange a demo, a loan or a review unit either.

We also cannot value your instrument or tell you what to pay for a second-hand one. What we can do is point you at what we have written about it.
